Senator Sally Turner Launches 2026
Outstanding Teacher Program for the 44th Senate District
[May 14, 2026]
Springfield, IL— State Senator
Sally Turner (R-Beason) is once again recognizing the incredible
work of local educators through her “2026 Outstanding Teacher of the
44th Senate District” program.
The initiative seeks to honor teachers who have made a meaningful
impact on their students and school community through dedication,
innovation, and excellence in the classroom. Senator Turner
encourages students, parents, colleagues, and community members to
nominate deserving educators who go above and beyond.
“I am proud to once again launch my Outstanding Teacher program to
recognize the amazing work educators do each and every day,” said
Senator Sally Turner. “Our teachers play a critical role in shaping
future generations, and this program is a small way to say thank you
for all they do.”
Eligible nominees must currently teach at an elementary school,
middle school, or high school within the 44th Senate District. The
winner or winners will be selected based on the quality of the
nomination submitted, not the number of submissions received.

Nominations are open through
June 1 and can be submitted online. The winner or winners will
be notified during the summer. The selected teacher or teachers
will receive formal recognition from the Illinois State Senate,
including an official certificate, a chance for special
acknowledgment in Springfield, and a gift card in appreciation
of their service.
“Teachers often go unrecognized for the countless ways they
support, inspire, and uplift their students,” continued Senator
Sally Turner. “This program gives us a chance to spotlight those
everyday heroes who quietly make a profound difference in our
schools and communities.”
