upcoming fundraisers

The Rotary Club of Lincoln is
excited about our upcoming fundraisers to raise funds for Books for
School Libraries in Lincoln for Grades K-2. These books will be
placed in the School Libraries in memory of Dolly Parton who was the
founder of the Imagination Library.
In 1995, Dolly Parton launched the Imagination Library in her
Tennessee hometown to honor her father, who couldn’t read. “Before
he passed away, her Daddy told her the Imagination Library was
probably the most important thing she had ever done. Dolly Parton
created the Imagination Library as a tribute to her Daddy.”
Inspiring kids to love to read became her mission.
Since 2009, Rotary International has been working with the
Imagination Library to promote early childhood reading. Through the
Imagination Library program, a child receives an age-appropriate
book each month until age five. Rotary clubs have teamed up with
Dolly to bring books to children in more than 300 communities.
The Rotary Club of Lincoln understands the importance of children
learning to read at a young age and that’s why they are excited
about putting Books in School Libraries in Lincoln for Grades K-2 in
memory of Dolly Parton, the founder of the Imagination Library. We
hope to encourage children to keep reading.

The week of
September 13th – 19th: Fundraiser at Ink and Imprint—Lincoln
Rotary will receive 10% of all sales that week so we can raise
funds for Books for School Libraries in Lincoln for Grades K-2.
These books will be given in memory of Dolly Parton who founded
the Imagination Library. Simply go to Ink and Imprint and
purchase books (maybe start your Christmas shopping). Be sure to
tell your family and friends.
Thursday, September 17th: Open Mic on a Mission at Spirited
Republic from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. This is also an event to raise
funds for Books for School Libraries in Lincoln for Grades K-2.
Tips given to the musicians that night will be given to Lincoln
Rotary. Simply come and enjoy some great music, have a spirit or
two, maybe order dinner from Guzzardo’s and top the evening off
with a sweet treat from Top Hat. Be sure to tell your family and
friends.
