American Legion Family Launches
National Poppy Day!!
[May 20, 2025]
The Lincoln American Legion and
American Legion Auxiliary will launch National Poppy Day on
Saturday, May 24, as a way to honor U. S. servicemembers, from the
battlefields of France in WWI, a century ago, to today’s global war
on terrorism.
Since World War I, the Poppy has been the symbol of the sacrifices
made by Americans and allied servicemembers around the world.
Millions of red poppies are handmade by veterans as part of their
rehabilitation, and distributed across the country in exchange for
donations that go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized
veterans in our communities.
Poppies will be
distributed by volunteers on Saturday morning , May 24th at
Walmart, Lincoln IGA, Ace Hardware. Farm and Home and in Lincoln
at the corner of Broadway and McLean Streets. Look for them,
pick up a poppy, and “Wear the Poppy Proudly”.
