My Favorite Pie Auction brings in
$455 at the Logan County Fair

This year’s My Favorite Pie
competition was held on Sunday instead of Saturday with the pies
being auctioned off right before the cake classic auction.
There was a total of four entries in the competition auctioned off
by auctioneer Ty Tucker.
First up for bid was the
first-place blueberry strawberry rhubarb pie made by Shawn Halley,
which was purchased by Jennifer Luckhart for $110.
Next up for bidding was Elizabeth
Edersheim’s apple pie, which was purchased by Rod Conklin for $155.
Halley’s third place coonhound pie
made with blueberry, blackberry and cherry was purchased for $155 by
Mark Read.

The final pie up for bidding was
the fourth-place pecan pie made by Jason Carlson was also purchased
by Mark Read for $130. At purchase time, he rounded up the amount
for the two pies together to $190, providing an even more generous
donation.
These pie bakers were new to the competition. Those who like to bake
pies are encouraged to participate in future competitions.
Once the bidding was completed,
Tucker thanked all who had purchased pies.
The $455 raised by the auction helps maintain the Logan County
Fairgrounds. These generous bidders help keep the fairgrounds
looking nice and also eat some delicious pie, so it is a win-win
situation.
