Oasis bids a fond farewell to Krista Miller

[April 09, 2026]  On Wednesday afternoon, several of the regular attendees, along with some of the board members, gathered at the Oasis Senior Center to bid farewell to administrator Krista Miller. The afternoon began with a light lunch of chicken salad sandwiches and fresh vegetables and fruits.

After a brief presentation honoring Miller, a large, decorated cake was cut and served to all guests.

After guests had settled in and were enjoying their food, Oasis Board Member Stephen Rohrer with Miller at his side, addressed the group. He noted that Miller had been hired as the Administrator in November of 2021, and now after more than five years, Miller was leaving the employee of the Oasis.

He said that during her time as administrator, she had demonstrated a genuine love for the seniors and the community she served, working tirelessly to provide services to the seniors. He said that she was always full of new ideas and would often greet him in the office with the words “I was just thinking about…” when she would outline something new she wanted to do for her seniors.

He said that she would be missed as the leader of the organization. Rohrer added that he had been instructed to deliver a gift to Miller, but he wasn’t going to do it. Instead, he said that it seemed fitting and proper that the presentation be made by Wanda Lowe and Andy Lessen as those two ladies were on the search committee that ultimately brought Miller to the Oasis.

Lowe did the honors of presenting a wrapped gift to Miller, who said fearing it would be something emotional would ask permission to open it later in private.

Miller then spoke to the group, saying that she was not leaving, not really. She said she would still be there playing cards, going on trips – but not driving, and enjoying all the great things that the seniors do at the Oasis. She said that her husband was the owner of a trucking business and she intended to devote a lot of time to taking care of him, loving her grandchildren, and enjoying the company of the seniors she has come to love.

The party for Miller lasted until 3 p.m. and offered the guest of honor ample opportunity to visit with everyone in the room, receiving good wishes from everyone.
