Lincoln Memorial Hospital's Wellness in Motion Challenge Set for October

[September 14, 2026]

LINCOLN — Lincoln Memorial Hospital is inviting community members of all ages and abilities to participate in the free Wellness in Motion Challenge, a month-long community wellness event taking place Oct. 1–31.

The challenge encourages participants to move their way through the month while working toward a goal of 100 miles of movement. Complete 100 miles or more and earn a Wellness in Motion t-shirt. Eligible activities include walking, rolling, running, cycling, swimming and other forms of physical activity. People of all abilities and activity levels are welcome.

For Peggy Bateman, a 62-year-old resident of Lincoln, the wellness challenges have become an important part of maintaining her health and well-being. She has participated in every challenge hosted by Lincoln Memorial Hospital and won the very first one in October 2023.

"Walking is important. It's free, and there's no cost to take a walk," she said. "Walking makes me feel good all over. Plus, I love the fall. There's a little crispness in the air, and you get to take in all the fall colors.”

Participants in this latest challenge can track their progress using the free Pacer app and register online through Join the Wellness in Motion Challenge.

The Wellness in Motion Challenge focuses on moving more, supporting one another and celebrating progress, regardless of fitness level or experience. Participants may log activities throughout October and complete their miles at their own pace.

"The Wellness in Motion Challenge is a great opportunity for people to build healthy habits while enjoying activities they already love," said Molly McCain, LMH community health consultant. "Whether someone is just getting started or is already active, every mile counts."

Participants without a smartphone can still take part in the challenge. Alternative participation and tracking options are available. For more information or to register, visit Wellness in Motion Challenge Registration or contact McCain at 447-785-5014.
