Lincoln Community Theatre announces auditions for Rumors and Into the Woods

[March 03, 2026]

Lincoln Community Theatre is pleased to invite all who are interested to audition for LCT’s 2026 summer season. Auditions for Neil Simon’s stage play Rumors and Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into the Woods will be held together on March 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. and March 21 from 9 a.m. to 1.p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 204 7th Street, in Lincoln.

Rumors will be directed by LCT Board President Lauren DeJarnette and presented June 18-21 at the Lincoln Community High School auditorium. Adults age 25 and up are welcome to audition for this comedy production. Rumors is a fast-paced 1988 farce by Neil Simon focusing on four couples arriving at a New York deputy mayor's 10th anniversary party to find the host shot, the hostess missing, and no servants. The guests descend into chaos, crafting increasingly absurd lies to avoid scandal.

Ann Wolpert will direct Sondheim’s beloved musical Into the Woods on July 23-26. Youth and adults are welcome to audition. Into the Woods is a Tony-winning musical that intertwines classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales—Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel—centered around a childless baker and his wife. Seeking to reverse a witch's curse, they journey into the woods, where they discover that "happily ever after" has dire consequences.
