Lincoln wins 11-10 walk-off against Champaign Central

[April 17, 2026]  The Railsplitters were on the winning end of an 11-10 slugfest with the Champaign Central Maroons on Thursday afternoon in Lincoln.

Even better, the Railsplitters walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs. Owen Comstock’s game-winning hit drove in Austin Lucas with the winning run. Freshman Grady Rutledge’s two-run single kept the Railsplitters in the contention for the win in the bottom of the seventh.

The Maroons pounded out fifteen hits versus Lincoln while the Railsplitters made the best of eleven hits in the game.

The Railsplitters fell behind 2-0 early in the game but a three-run third inning put the home team on top.

Karson Komnick is pretty consistent getting the rally started from the lead-off position. Komnick hit a single to left and was eventually joined on base by Austin Lucas and Owen Comstock, both of whom walked. Cooper Koehler’s fielder’s choice drove home Komnick. After a walk to Bryce Vlahovich, Kane Komnick hit a two-run single to put the Railsplitters up 3-2.

A bases loaded triple in the top of the fourth inning put the Maroons back in front. They tacked on a couple more runs on a single and a fielder’s choice. When the inning ended, the Maroons were leading 7-3.

In the bottom of the fifth inning the Railsplitters bounced back to tie the game. Koehler, Vlahovich and Chase March each drove in runs on singles as the game reached a 7-7 score.

Comstock broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with his RBI single that scored Lucas.

The Maroons used three singles and a walk to plate three runs in the seventh inning and take a 10-8 lead.

Lincoln overcame the two-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning. Kane Komnick started the inning with a walk and after one out, March walked. After two outs, Lucas was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Grady Rutledge kept the Railsplitters alive with a two-out single that tied the game. Lucas went to third on Rutledge’s hit and the next man up was Comstock. Comstock sent a 3-0 pitch to center and that brought Lucas home with the winning run.

Tate Aue earned the win in relief. Aue worked three innings, giving up four hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out two.

Carson Fuiten started the game for Lincoln and lasted four innings. He gave up eleven hits and seven runs. Five of the runs were earned. He walked two and struck out one.

Karson Komnick and Owen Comstock each led Lincoln with two hits.

Austin Lucas, Grady Rutledge, Cooper Koehler, Kane Komnick, Carson Fuiten and Chase March each had one hit.

Lincoln (10-6) will play Taylorville Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. on Mike Curry Field.
