John Welsh Memorial Tournament
tips off Saturday, February 28

We are excited to announce a
record-breaking year for the John Welsh Memorial Tournament! We will
have 176 teams participating in 15 gyms at 11 locations throughout
town on Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st. This event is
not possible without the support of the community and the
availability of the following gyms: Carroll Catholic, Chester-East
Lincoln, Central, Lincoln High School, Lincoln Jr. High, Lincoln
Recreation Center, Open Arms, Washington-Monroe, West
Lincoln-Broadwell, Zion Lutheran, and back by popular demand, The
Lincoln Center on the campus of Lincoln College.
The John Welsh Memorial Tournament has become a special tradition
for District #27 and the community. It was started by John Welsh in
1997 and passed on to Kent Froebe and Mike Workman in 2008. There
were 63 teams in the tournament in 2007, and since then, Kent and
Mike have watched it grow into the event it is today. The continued
growth of this tourney is a testament to the strong community
support and the dedication of the countless volunteers. We look
forward to an exciting tournament weekend filled with great 3rd-8th
grade boys and girls basketball!
