Annual Humane Society of Logan County Garage Sale this weekend; Thursday night preview sale a howling success!

[June 05, 2026]  The much anticipated Annual Humane Society of Logan County garage sale is happening today (Friday, June 5th) and Saturday June 6th at the Logan County Fairground in Lincoln.

Sale hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day in the yellow door barn near the KC Pavilion on the south end of the fairground. For the next two days, admission to the sale is free.

On Thursday evening, the HSLC hosted its annual preview night which comes with a $5 admission fee. Before 4 p.m. shoppers were standing in line with their money in hand, anxious to get inside and begin shopping all the bargains. By 4:30 p.m. HSLC volunteer Roger Matson said that he had counted well over 100 people in that first half hour with shoppers still coming.

Inside the barn, people were shoulder to shoulder, quickly examining merchandise and snatching up items that they just couldn’t leave without.

This year there is a gigantic supply of merchandise so don’t be alarmed by the success of the Thursday evening event, there will be plenty left for shoppers to snag up today and Saturday.

As always the sale is very well organized with like items being displayed together. This year there were lots of antiques incorporated into the sale, from furniture to dishes and home décor. In addition, there are plenty of modern-day items such as dishes and dinnerware, glasses, plastic containers, cooking utensils, small kitchen appliances and much more. Other areas in the barn include a wide variety of outdoor and garden tools, wall hangings and large framed prints, bedspreads and other bedroom items, lamps, furniture, holiday décor including everything from Easter to Christmas, purses and jewelry, books and CDs. and tons of games and toys.

All the items offered at the sale are donated to the HSLC and all the money taken in from the sale goes to the daily operations of the no kill shelter in Lincoln. The HSLC is privately run and not funded by the city or county. The care of the animals at the shelter depends on support from the community through the various annual fundraisers including the garage sale.

The HSLC takes in dogs and cats that are in a situation where their owners can no longer provide them with a safe, healthy, loving environment. There are a variety of reasons why this happens, but many times it is because circumstances beyond the control of the pet parent demand it. Either a family is moving and can’t have pets in their new home, or someone has fallen ill and can no longer provide their pet with a healthy lifestyle, or a loved one with pets has passed and family members are unable to provide shelter for the animals left behind.

After coming to the HSLC, each animal gets a good health check, is spayed or neutered if needed, and is brought up to date on all vaccinations.

Would-be pet parents visit the shelter and meet the animals. If they are inclined to adopt, they must fill out an application form with the HSLC. The application process helps ensure that the animals will be going to a safe, loving environment and will be cared for in the manner they deserve.

The HSLC shelter is located at 1801 N. Lincoln Parkway in Lincoln. It is open Tuesday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Wednesday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) Thursday and Friday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to noon).

The shelter is run solely by volunteers, if you would like to volunteer, visit the Humane Society today.
