Captain Geech Closes out Balloons Over 66

[September 02, 2026]

After the glow, a large crowd gathered downtown on the corner of Kickapoo and McLean as Captain Geech closed out Saturday’s festivities. People gathered in lawn chairs and stood, while some gathered in front of Spirited Republic or the Alley Bi to hear the music. The band played a mixture of country, rock, and pop hits from several different decades. They paid tribute to Dolly Parton by singing her hit “9 to 5”. They also played songs by Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire. Many in the crowd danced and sang along. Food trucks stayed to serve festival favorites, and Guzzardo’s served warm slices of pepperoni and cheese pizza on the sidewalk until they sold out.
