Atlanta Fall Festival: Prince and
Princess Contest

Early Saturday evening, friends and
family gathered to cheer on the seven prince and princess
contestants at the bandstand stage. The contestants were Emma
Prather, Emma Baker, Burek Galardin, Everett Nordyke, River Bechtel,
Hazel Penn, and Memphis Hallstein.
As the event got underway, hostess
Savanah Langley introduced each contestant. The princess contestants
wore a variety of dresses, from cute country sundresses to rainbow
sequin dresses. Two of the prince contestants wore cowboy outfits,
and one wore a matching Hawaiian set. After each contestant took
their place on stage, Savanah explained the pageant process. Then
she went to each contestant and asked three questions. She asked
each contestant their age, if they had any brothers or sisters, and
if they had any pets. The contestants ranged in age from three years
old to five years old. Some of the contestants were shyer than
others, but their faces lit up when they were asked about their
pets.
After each contestant answered
their questions, Savanah asked the crowd for a moment while the
judges tallied scores to determine the new prince and princess. The
contestants were judged on four categories: stage presence,
appearance, originality, and overall impression.

The judges were Kristine Hilke,
Rana Zogg, and Jimmy Zogg. Once the judges reached a decision,
Savanah asked each contestant to remain in their seat as they
received a treat bag. She then announced the winners. Memphis
Hallstein, four years old, was crowned prince, and River
Bechtel, four years old, was crowned princess.
After the contest, even more
royalty was spotted at the festival. Logan County Fair Queen Grace
Carter was there supporting her family’s new business, Jean’s on 66,
which will open soon in downtown Atlanta. They served walking tacos,
both classic and dessert. The evening continued with more food,
craft vendors, bingo, music by Black Out Betty, and festival fun.
