West Lincoln-Broadwell defeats Chester-East Lincoln for 8th grade regional championship

[January 30, 2026]  The West Lincoln Broadwell Wolverines defeated their crosstown rivals, the Chester-East Lincoln Panthers, 49-19 to win the Class 8-1A Regional Championship on Thursday night in Greenview.

Three Wolverines took care of the scoring: Kruz Froebe (21), Colby Bowman (15) and Griffen Cross (13).

WLB held a 13-8 advantage in the first quarter. Bowman led the team with seven points and Froebe tossed in six points.

The Wolverines were up 27-12 at the half with Cross leading the way with six points.

The lead was a pretty dominant 46-15 when the third quarter came to an end. Froebe hit two field goals and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line while Cross hit a three-pointer and two field goals for seven points.

Froebe’s three in the fourth quarter finished the scoring and set the final score at 49-19.

Let’s give a shoutout to Kruz Froebe for having seven assists, six steals and five rebounds in the win. He also led the team with three fouls. Way to go, Kruz!

Many of these Wolverines have now won a regional championship the last four years of their junior high careers. That also deserves some recognition.
