Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers remain undefeated with 67-34 win over Central
A&M
[February 09, 2026]
The Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers kept the kids engaged in the
action on Saturday afternoon inside Ed Butkovich Gymnasium. This
time the girls defeated Central A&M 67-34 and the crowd of little
people went crazy again.
These girls put on a show in back-to-back home games for the crowd
this past week. After winning 67-14 on Friday night over Decatur
Unity Christian, Mount Pulaski reached that 6-7 number the kids love
so much again on Saturday. According to Mount Pulaski coach Ryan
McVickers the girls have reached the 6-7 score five times this
season.
Shooting lights out was Alyson Murphy with 32 points. Elayna Marten
tallied 13 points and Addison Brown added 12 points.
As a team the Lady Toppers hit a dozen 3s in the game.
The girls continue to keep the winning streak alive with 25
consecutive wins to start the season.
There is a big game tonight in Clinton. Mount Pulaski will take on
the Maroons, who are 24-4 and riding a 20-game win streak. The JV
will start at 6:00 p.m. and the Varsity will follow.
But first, a wrap-up of Saturday’s win.
First quarter
Whatever McVickers says in his pre-game speech, it sure ignites
these girls. They have made a habit of coming out strong from the
first huddle and as soon as the ball is tipped, it’s game on. Six
Lady Toppers scored in the first quarter as the girls steamrolled to
a 26-7 lead over Central A&M. Alyson Murphy had not cooled off from
Friday night and she poured in 14 first quarter points to lead the
way.
Second quarter
Five 3s led the Mount Pulaski offense in the second quarter. Elayna
Marten led the team with ten points, including two 3s. Murphy tossed
in a couple 3s and a two-point bucket. Addison Brown added a triple
and a free throw. All of this added up to a 48-13 halftime lead.

Third quarter
Claire Bobell got in on the action from beyond the arc in the third
quarter. Murphy added another ten points here and Brown scored five
points. When this trio combined to finish with 18 points, Mount
Pulaski was rocking and rolling with a 66-23 lead.
Fourth quarter
Much to the delight of the little people, Mount Pulaski’s Cami
Killion tossed in a free throw in the fourth quarter and the Lady
Toppers quickly took the 67-34 win.
Again, it’s a big game tonight in Clinton.
Alyson Murphy is drawing closer to 2,000 career points. She looks to
be 27 points away at this point, according to McVickers.
