Joseph-Ogden 4-3
[March 25, 2026]
The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers are still looking for their
first win of the season.
On Monday afternoon the Hilltoppers lost to the St. Joseph-Ogden
Spartans 4-3.
Last week the Hilltoppers opened the season with an 8-2 loss to
Nokomis.
Monday’s winning run came in the bottom of the seventh inning on a
Hilltoppers error.
The Spartans took a 2-0 lead over Mount Pulaski in the bottom of the
first inning on a walk, single and a double.
Aaron Volle doubled to start Mount Pulaski’s second inning. Volle
took third on a passed ball and scored on a ground out by Carter
Clark.

back after a walk, a single and an error.
Mount Pulaski scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie
the game. Chase Roberts started the inning with a single to right.
Preston Cowan followed with a walk. Roberts was able to advance to
third on a wild pitch and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Luke
Martin. After Volle walked, Tyler Cross grounded out and Cowan
scored the tying run.
The Spartans got a lead-off walk in the bottom of the sixth inning
but after Chase Roberts threw out the runner trying to steal second,
Jaeden Jackson struck out the next two batters to smash any threat.
The game remained tied 3-3.

The bottom of the seventh inning was a different
story. After a single, a stolen base and a hit by pitch, the
Hilltoppers were in trouble. With two outs the damage was nearly
averted when a ground ball to short resulted in an error, bringing
home the winning run for the Spartans.
Mount Pulaski used three pitchers in the game.
Luke Martin started the game and went three innings. He gave up four
hits and three runs. Only two of the runs were earned. He walked two
and struck out two.
Jaeden Jackson worked three innings, giving up one hit and zero
runs. He struck out two and walked one.
Carter Clark took the loss. He worked two-thirds of an inning,
allowing one hit and one unearned run.
Finn Miller was the winning pitcher for the Spartans.
Mount Pulaski (0-2) will play at Williamsville on Friday at 4:30
