LJHS track and field athletes headed to State

[May 22, 2026]  Six Lincoln Junior High School athletes will participate in the 2026 IESA Class 3A State Track and Field Championships at EastSide Centre in East Peoria this weekend. The meet takes place Friday and Saturday.
 
The girls lead the way to State this season for the Trojans.

Olivia Pethy, Hadley Lichauer, Ava Sorenson and Lilah Hofer qualified for State in the 8th grade 4x100m relay. In the sectional meet at Peoria these girls came in third place with a qualifying time of 52.56.

Lichauer and Pethy also qualified in the 400m.

At the sectional meet, Lichauer finished second with a time of 1:03.21 and Pethy finished fourth with a time of 1:03.45.

Hofer qualified in the 7th grade 100m hurdles with a time of 17.85.

McKylah Pethy qualified in the 7th grade discus with a throw of 77’ 2” at sectionals.

The lone boy of the group, Mack Prince, was outstanding at sectionals. He finished first in the 7th grade high jump with a jump of 5’ 2.5” and he was the only one from the Peoria sectional to advance to State.

The Trojans are coached by Leslie Singleton and Anthony Varnado.
