Lady Railers win season opener 6-1 over PORTA

[March 20, 2026]  The Lincoln Lady Railers softball team opened the 2026 season with a 6-1 win over the PORTA Blue Jays on Thursday afternoon at Schweitzer Field.
 
Lincoln plated three runs in both the fourth inning and the sixth inning.   

 

In the fourth inning Addy Mahler slugged a home run to center with one out for Lincoln’s first run of the season. Sage Gilbert scored the second run on an error and Norah Block, who had reached on an error, also scored on an error to make the game 3-0 in favor of the Railers.

The Blue Jays scored their only run of the game on a home run by Regan Heubner in the top of the sixth inning.

Emma Hutchison drove in Sage Gilbert on an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kate Farnam also scored on an error in the inning. Grey Gilbert followed with an RBI single that scored Preslee Sherren.

Norah Block breezed through the seventh inning in the circle and picked up the win for Lincoln. Block tossed seven innings and allowed four hits. The one run was earned. She walked two and struck out six.

Lincoln had six hits.

Grey Gilbert led the team with two hits.

Laurynn Mayberry, Addy Mahler, Sage Gilbert and Emma Hutchison each had one hit for Lincoln.

PORTA had six hits and four errors in the game.

Morgan Miller took the loss for PORTA. She worked six innings, giving up four earned runs. She walked three batters and struck out zero.

Lincoln (1-0) will play at Warrensburg today at 4:30 p.m.
