Congratulations to these top runners from the Lincoln Railsplitters
Cross Country team: Preston Short, Owen Cyrulik, Pierce King and Taylor
Short.
The boys and girls teams both competed on Saturday, September 5, 2026 in
the Rochester Invite, braving the extreme heat and humidity. |

Taylor Short finished in fifth place in the girl’s division.
Preston Short placed third in the boy’s division while Owen
Cyrulik finished in 12th place and Pierce King finished in 13th
place.
Lincoln Cross Country Coach Kim King called the conditions
“brutal” for the runners on Saturday, stating that she was
extremely proud of their efforts.
“It was definitely a challenge,” said King. “I was sweating just
standing at the coaches meeting, so the mental
toughness it took these kids to push through those temperatures
and not quit is remarkable. I told all of them I was so proud of
them for not quitting because it would have been very easy for
them to do.”
Next up for the Railsplitters Cross Country team is a meet on
Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Lincoln Park in Springfield.
