Railsplitters defeat Tri-Valley 2-1 in season opener

[March 19, 2026]  Baseball is back and off to a great start with some great weather! And the Lincoln Railsplitters have win no. 1 in the books.

A wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a 1-1 tie between Lincoln and Tri-Valley on Wednesday afternoon and the Railsplitters held on to win 2-1.

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead over Lincoln in the first inning after smacking two singles and a double on Mike Curry Field to start the 2026 baseball season. The Vikings left runners stranded at second and third in the inning as Carson Fuiten struck out the final two batters to avoid further damage.

The Railsplitters tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single by Karson Komnick. Chase March, who had doubled with one out in the inning, scored the tying run for Lincoln. Cooper Koehler also singled in the inning ahead of Komnick’s base hit.

With two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning and Austin Lucas on base via a walk, he advanced bases on a wild pitch and a stolen base. Bryce Vlahovich was in the batter’s box when Lucas scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. It was a tough break for the Vikings, who had Eli Roberts on the mound. Roberts struck out three batters in the inning and allowed the walk that proved to be the winning run.

Lincoln had six hits off Tri-Valley pitching.

Chase March led Lincoln at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance and one run scored.

Karson Komnick, Austin Lucas, Tate Aue and Cooper Koehler each had one hit for the Railsplitters.
