Obituary
Robert “Bob” E.
Barger, 83, of Lincoln, passed away at his home on
Sunday, December 7, 2025.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday,
December 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family
Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Dondanville and
Rev. Jeffrey Laible officiating.
A Rosary Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to
the service at the church.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of
service at the church.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in
rural Kenney, Illinois. Military Rites will be
provided by Lincoln American Legion Post #263.
Robert E. Barger was born on November 4, 1942, in
Clinton, Illinois, the son of Samuel Everett " Shag"
and Thelma Bernice Johnson Barger. He was united in
marriage to Carol Ann Gregory on March 31, 1962. She
survives.
Also surviving are his children: Lois Annette
(Ronnie) Donaldson, Michael Patrick (Danita) Barger;
two grandchildren: Shay (Chas Johnson) Barger and
Alyssa (Ridge Leinweber) Barger; four
great-grandchildren: Owen Joseph Coleman, August Lee
Johnson, Blinn Riley Johnson, and Isla Blake
Leinweber; one sister: Beverly N. Keyth, and one
brother: Jackie Lee (Patti) Barger.
He was preceded in
death by one infant son: Howard Owen Barger, his
parents, and one brother: Everett Wayne Barger. |

Bob graduated from
Clinton High School in 1960. He then served in the
United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He had
been employed at the Clinton Landfill for sixteen
and a half years and Caterpillar, inc. for twelve
and a half years as a line inspector.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and is a life
member of the North American Hunting and Fishing
Club. He loved spending time creating, designing and
building different projects.
Bob was passionate about family and his faith. He
put a great deal of time and heart into ministering
to anyone in need.
Bob was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus Council #1250 where he was a 3rd
and 4th degree Knight and also served as Faithful
Navigator and Faithful Purser.
