Service:  Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln

Glenda B. Downing, 85, of Lincoln passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Service for Glenda will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. James Christian officiating.

A fellowship hour will be held in the fellowship hall following the service.

Glenda Belle Johnson was born on November 8, 1939 in Lincoln the daughter of Lloyd and Florence Amberg Johnson. She was united in marriage to Dean E. Downing on April 14, 1962 in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2024.

Surviving are her daughters: Sara (Greg) Horchem and Jill (Jerry) Uhrine, Five grandchildren: Josh Horchem, Justin Horchem, Jason Horchem, Sam Uhrine and Sophie Uhrine. One sister: Nancy (Bernard) LaValle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Ted Johnson.

Glenda graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1957. She retired from the Illinois Teacher Retirement System. She had also worked at the Clinton Nuclear Power Station as a administrative assistant.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln where she was very actively involved.

Her hobbies included playing Bridge, piano, guitar and spending time with her family.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Peasley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
