[October 17, 2025]  LATHAM - Madonna Lou Boyle, 84, of Latham, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at her home after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation:  Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Mt. Pulaski.

Service:  Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Obituary

Madonna Lou Boyle, 84, of Latham, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at her home after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Madonna was born on August 11, 1941, in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of William and Gladys (Foyil) Welsh. She married Gerald Robert Boyle on November 26, 1960, in Mattoon. He survives.

Madonna is also survived by one son, Robert (Cindy) Boyle; one daughter, Colleen (David) Dickerson; six grandchildren, Darci (Malachi), Teddi, Colton (Katie), Shawn (Emily), Haylee, Derek, Andrea, and Derrick; four great-grandchildren, Jerzi, Landen, Benaiah, Lailah; and her sister, Rhonda (Rick) Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Patrick Boyle, and her brother, Mike Welsh.

Madonna worked for the State of Illinois for many years before her retirement. After retiring from the state, she ran her own travel agency, Madonna’s Travel and Tours for 20 years. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Mt. Pulaski. She also served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader in Latham for many years. Madonna also volunteered at her church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and Confirmation teacher. She also volunteered at the Scovill Zoo in Decatur, and the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield.

 

A Funeral Mass for Madonna will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service (9:30 to 10:30 AM) also at the church. Burial will follow the mass at Lake Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Madonna’s memory to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church or Latham Fire Department. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski.
