[October 15, 2025]  MIDDLETOWN — Mary Etta Rogers, 89, formerly of Middletown, IL and later Westhoff, TX, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Service: A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.

Mary Etta Rogers, 89, formerly of Middletown, IL and later Westhoff, TX, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Mary was born January 21, 1936, in Middletown, IL, the daughter of William Edward and Helen Emma Anderson. She married Franklin Dean Rogers in 1954, and he preceded her in death in 2008.

Mary graduated from high school in Middletown, Illinois. She worked many years for the Illinois Secretary of State, retiring to Texas in 1991. There she enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with family and friends.

Mary was deeply loved by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will always cherish her warmth, strength, and the special memories they shared with her.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Judy (Steve) Higgenbotham of Cuero, TX, Marcy (Randy) Trowbridge of Chatham, IL and Shelly (Brian) Dobey of Murfreesboro, TN; six grandchildren, Vinessa (Mike) Cartner, Teressa (Chris) Watson, and Carson Brian (Chelsea) Dobey all of Texas, Camden Dobey of Tennessee, Kelby (Brittney) Trowbridge of Springfield, IL, and Nicole (John) Lucas of Lowell, IN; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to: The Chatham Public Library or to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
