Obituary
Normal -- Eric L.
Atchison, 67, of Normal, formerly of Atlanta, passed
away at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center on Wednesday,
September 30, 2026.
A Memorial Service for Eric will be held on
Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Mr. Ryan
Edgecombe will officiate. Cremation Rites have been
accorded.
Eric Lee Atchison was born June 16, 1959, in
Lincoln, a son of Melvin J. and Francis Baker
Atchison. He was united in marriage to Kathryn White
on December 15, 1989. She survives.
Eric is also survived by four children: Robert “BJ”
Atchison, William Atchison, Jeremiah Atchison, and
Jakob Atchison, as well as 5 grandchildren, his
brother Dennis Atchison, and his sister Jeanette
Atchison.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rita
Girdler; and his parents.
Eric had attended Olympia High School, worked
various jobs over his life, notably St. Clara’s
Manor in Lincoln, up until his retirement in 2012.
Eric coached his sons and several others in summer
baseball for multiple years in the early to mid
2000s, where he was only ever ejected from one game
for arguing a call.

He enjoyed old western
movies, playing his PlayStation, classic rock music,
especially the rock group KISS, watching sports and
yelling at the TV whenever his Oakland Raiders were
doing bad.
He also loved his pets over his life; his dog Bobo
and his cat Rogue already miss him.
Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Logan
County.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home of Atlanta.
