[September 16, 2025]  ATLANTA - Surrounded by her Earthly family, Patricia Gail Payne Kirkpatrick, 60, of New London, Iowa, joined her Heavenly family on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Visitation:  Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Atlanta Methodist Church

Service:  Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the church.

Obituary

Surrounded by her Earthly family, Patricia Gail Payne Kirkpatrick, 60, of New London, Iowa, joined her Heavenly family on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Services for Gail will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Atlanta United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., to be followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Deborah J. Johnston officiating. Graveside services at Hartsburg Union Cemetery will be held at 1:30 p.m. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Patricia Gail Payne was born February 8, 1965, in Lincoln, the daughter of Les and Peggy Westen Payne. She was united in marriage to Douglas Kirkpatrick on April 2, 1998. He preceded Gail in death on December 23, 2023.

Gail is survived by her parents, Les and Peggy Payne; three step-children: Stacy (Joe) Jarvis, Nichole (Micah) Peterson, and Spike Kirkpatrick; six step-grandchildren; and aunts and uncles: Ann (Steve) Siltman, Shirley Kavanaugh, Brian (Cindy) Westen, and John (Ronette) Payne; along with many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband and grandparents.

Gail was a 1983 graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School. She then graduated from Lincoln College, Mennonite College of Nursing, and Clarkson College, completing a Family Nurse Practitioner (Master of Science in Nursing) degree.

Gail felt a special calling for caring for the elderly. She had worked as a traveling nurse, director of nursing at DeWitt County Nursing Home, an ICU nurse in both Illinois and Iowa, and completed her career as a Nurse Practitioner at River Hills Nursing Home in Keokuk, Iowa.

She was a member of Hartsburg Methodist church and enjoyed spending time with her husband, camping, riding motorcycles, and attending St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. She also loved dogs and cats and owned many throughout the years.

Memorials may be made to her family or P.A.W.S., 2031 48th Street, Ft. Madison, Iowa 52627.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
