[August 14, 2025]  ELMHURST —  Ronald Wesley Shawgo, born June 13, 1940 in Elmhurst, IL passed away July 27, 2025 in Owensville, MO after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer disease.

Service: A private service will be held at a later date.

Ronald Wesley Shawgo, born June 13, 1940 in Elmhurst, IL passed away July 27, 2025 in Owensville, MO after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer disease.

He was the son of James Wesley and Julia Irene Anderson Shawgo. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Shawgo of Leasburg, MO, his grandson, Justin Bowling and wife Katie of St. Paul, MN, sister Judy Shawgo Coffey of Peoria, IL and brother Jim Shawgo and wife Margie of Bloomington, IL; 2 nieces Jennifer Dawson and Jill Brown; and 2 nephews Ryan Shawgo and Mike Shawgo.

Ron and his siblings grew up in Elkhart, IL and Broadwell, IL and attended school in those communities.

Ron Graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in history and attained his master’s degree in educational administration from Illinois State University.

He taught in elementary schools in: New Holland-Middletown school district, Nokomis, IL and was Dean of Students at Lincoln Community High School, Lincoln, IL. He later taught and was principal in several schools in Missouri.

Before retiring, Ron took up the artistry of Stained Glass and eventually had a shop in Nixa, MO. He was well known for his designs and construction of many lamps, windows for residences and especially large windows for churches in Missouri and Illinois; in particular, a round window in the Jefferson Street Christian Church, Lincoln, IL and the front windows of the Elkhart Christian Church.

Cremation rights have been accorded, and a private service will be held at a later date.
