Richard “Dick” E. Cecil, 86, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, July
11, 2025, at the Mason City Area Nursing Home in Mason City. |

Obituary
Richard “Dick” E. Cecil, 86, of
Lincoln, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at
the Mason City Area Nursing Home in Mason City.
A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held at a later
date. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.
Richard Eugene Cecil was born on June 16, 1939, in
Lincoln, the son of George and Helen I. Duginger
Cecil.
He is survived by two sisters: Nana Papesch and
Bonnie Farmer; one brother: Tom (Susie) Cecil;
several nieces and nephews; and cousins: Vicky (Ron)
Klokkenga.
He was preceded in death by his companion of fifteen
years: Doris Bennis; his parents; two sisters: Julia
Loeffelholz and Elaine Carlile, and three nephews:
George Loeffelholz, Steve Papesch, and Garin Farmer.
Dick graduated from the Lincoln Community High
School in 1957. He then served in the United States
Navy. He retired from Eaton/Cutler Hammer after 32
years of service.
He was a member of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge #210,
Ansar Shrine, Logan County Shrine, Lincoln Elks
Lodge #914, Lincoln Eagles Aerie #2708, Lincoln
Moose and Lincoln American Legion Post #263. |

Dick’s hobbies included owning
several Corvettes, car racing, and golfing.
He also drove many local children to the Shriner's
Hospital in Chicago and St. Louis for their
treatments.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for
Children or Charitable Trust of Lincoln Elk’s 914.
