Obituary
Dorothy “Jean” Peters, 85, of
Lincoln, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13,
2025, at her home surrounded by her 6 daughters.
Jean Peters was born on October 19, 1939, in
Springfield, IL. She was the daughter of Dr. Jeffery
and Eleanor “Shug” Fults.
Jean is survived by her children, daughters Mary
(Ron) Harmsen of Emden, Jane (Greg) Fox of Marietta,
GA, Gail (Don) Vitek of Elmhurst, Anne (Dan) Conrady
of Rochester, IL, Ruth Brackney of Kansas City, MO,
and Amy (Steve) DiLullo of Lincolnshire; her 16
grandchildren Amanda (Alex) Kalogrides, John
(Kristen) Harmsen, Rachel (James) Collins, Katelyn
(Luke) Peifer, Ben (Abby) Conrady, Jill Fox, Will
Conrady, Andrew (Claire) Vitek, Grace Vitek, Adam
Conrady, Gretchen Vitek, Robert Vitek, Robert (Garych)
Fox, Jackson Brackney, Lauren Brackney, and Audrey
DiLullo; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Jean was married to Andrew “Warren” Peters, for 51
wonderful years until his death in 2012. They met in
Lincoln and enjoyed attending University of Illinois
football games while they were courting. Warren and
Jean purchased their house in Lincoln on Union
Street where they raised their 6 daughters and where
she remained for 63 years until her final days.
Traveling across the country in their station wagon
with their family in tow was a highlight of their
life. As their family grew and moved out of the
house, they enjoyed visiting them often. The
holidays were also a special time for them when
their large family would come home to visit. The
house was known for having candles in the windows
every year during the holiday season. |

Jean was the 2nd oldest of six
children and is survived by her siblings Jeffrey
Fults, Dr. Robert Fults, and Marilyn “Doody”
Newberry. Her oldest sister Eleanor “Snooks” Feldman
and her youngest brother, Donald Fults, preceded her
in death. She was also preceded in death by her
husband, Andrew “Warren” Peters.
Jean attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Lincoln
Community Hight School. She worked at Merle Norman
Cosmetics in Lincoln before marrying Warren and
raising their 6 daughters.
The family would like to thank all of her
caregivers, especially Joyce, Judy, and Barb, as
well as her frequent visitor Carol.
Visitation will be held from 5pm – 7pm on Friday,
June 20 at Holy Family Church. A Rosary Service will
be held at 4:30pm, prior to the visitation. A Mass
of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June
21 at 10:30am at Holy Family Church with the Rev.
Joseph Dondanville officiating. Burial will at in
Old Union Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorials can be made to Holy Family Parish in her
name in lieu of flowers.
Final arrangements are with Peasley Funeral Home of
Lincoln.
