[June 10, 2025]  DECATUR — Vernon Wayne Jimison, 90, of Decatur Illinois went to be with his heavenly father on Friday June 6, 2025.

Visitation: Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Argenta Baptist Church.

Service: Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the church.

Vernon Wayne Jimison, 90, of Decatur Illinois went to be with his heavenly father on Friday June 6, 2025.

A visitation will be held at 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Argenta Baptist Church (111 IL-48 Argenta, IL 62501) Pastor Mitchell Flesch will be officiating. A funeral service to celebrate Vernon’s life will be at 10 am on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Argenta Baptist as well. Burial will be at Harristown Cemetery (215 N. Meridian St Harristown, IL 62522). Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements. Casual Attire requested by the family.

Vernon was born in March of 1935 in Fort Wayne, Indiana son of Raymond and Edith Jimison. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Schools and Stephen Decatur High School. Vern worked at Linn & Fink, PPG, and Logan Mason Rehab/ Logan Mason Mental Health all in Lincoln, Illinois. He retired from Logan Mason Mental Health in February 2006. Vern married Donna Williams on April 7, 1968. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and a Chicago Bears fan, loved bowling and going fishing.

Survived by his wife Donna, his children; Sam (Sue) Jimison of Oreana, and Sherri (Brian) Crook of Oreana, four grandchildren; Kaitlin Coate, Dru Jimison, Angela Crook and Brianna Crook, two great grandchildren Maxwell Coate and Aurora Love, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Russell Jimison, Betty Bright and Charles Jimison.
