Service:  Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Union Cemetery in Lincoln

Obituary

Virginia L. Chere, 77, of Lincoln, passed away at her home on June 1, 2026.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Chere will be on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Union Cemetery in Lincoln with Mr. Ron Otto officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Virginia Lee Hickey was born on January 15, 1949 in Lincoln the daughter of Joseph Vincent and Hazel Ellen Lee Hickey. She was united in marriage to Dan "Danny" Chere on May 22, 1971. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2004.

Surviving Mrs. Chere are her daughters: Kimberly (William) Frizzell and Kelly (Chris) Jones. Five grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Scott) Flora, Kendall Frizzell, Kinsey Frizzell, Blake Jones, Luke Jones. Two great grandchildren: Owen Wilson and Emersyn Flora. Her siblings: Joseph (Kay) Hickey, Robert James (Ann) Hickey, Sandra (Robert) Minor, Nancy Sutton, and Rebecca Osborne.

She was preceded in death by her husband , parents, one sister: Loretta Ann Miener, one son: Tracy Allen Chere, one great grandson Emmett Daniel Flora.

Virginia graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1967. She had been employed at the Kroger's Deli, ran an in home day care center, and retired from St. Clara's Manor Nursing Home as the Dietary Manager.

Her hobbies included gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Logan County.

The family has entrusted Peasley Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.
