Obituary
Robert Vincent “Bob” Whiteman, 91, of
Middletown, Illinois, passed away on May 16, 2025,
at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born August 31, 1933, in Middletown, the son
of Robert S. and Louise (Brinkmeyer) Whiteman. He
married Martha Kruse on July 11, 1954, in New
Holland. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Mike (Diane)
Whiteman of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Steve (Christy)
Whiteman of Dubuque, Iowa; six grandchildren: Kevin
Whiteman of Austin, Texas, Megan (Josh) Williams of
Ann Arbor, Michigan, Chloe (Ryan) Condrey of
Papillion, Nebraska, Elly (Robby) Weis of Dubuque,
Iowa, Katie (Taylor) Huhn of Wheat Ridge, Colorado,
and Andy Whiteman of Decatur, Illinois; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Joe;
sisters, Gloria and Peggy; and granddaughter, Amy
Harms.
He worked for 45 years at Lehn and Fink. Bob was an
active member of his community, serving as village
mayor, village trustee, water superintendent, and on
the Middletown School Board. He also served as elder
and vice president of Zion Lutheran Church in New
Holland. |
Bob enjoyed camping, playing croquet
and golf, and most of all, spending time with his
family.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 11:00 am on
Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in
New Holland. Visitation will take place one hour
prior from 10:00 - 11:00 am, also at the church. A
burial will follow the service at Irish Grove
Cemetery in Greenview, IL. Memorial donations may be
made in Bob’s name to Zion Lutheran Church in New
Holland. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
