Obituary
Gail E. Fisher exited her Earth
Suit and stepped in to Eternity to be with her Lord
and Savior Jesus forever on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
Gail was born February 13, 1940 to C. Loren and
Frances Stringer in Lincoln, IL. She graduated from
Lincoln Community High School, Lincoln College and
Carthage College. She married John F. Fisher, the
love of her life, on June 24, 1961 at Lincoln First
Methodist Church. John preceded her in death in
2007. They had been married 45 years.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Centenary United Methodist
Church in Effingham, IL. Visitation will be held
from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22,
2025 prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home
in Effingham.
Memorials may be made to Effingham County Humane
Society or Centenary UMC’s Good Samaritan Fund.

Gail was a lifelong Methodist and currently a member
of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham.
She was a member of Little Harps on the Prairie,
Great Lakes Harpers, So-Lows camping group, GOWS
camping group and Leisure Travel Vans camping.
She was also a member of IRTA and taught grade
school for 33 years in Illinois in Lake County,
Illinois. Gail earned a 1st degree black belt in Tae
Kwon Do and studied Tai Chi. She taught women’s self
defense classes in the 1980’s.
She loved music and played flute, piccolo, and harp.
She taught beginning harp lessons. Gail and her
husband John were woodworkers and made dulcimers and
celtic harps of many sizes. Gail was an avid reader
and had co-authored many humorous articles with John
for Camping and RV and Trailer Life magazines. They
had a passion for cats and helped to neuter, spay
and find homes for 33 strays.
Gail loved to travel in her RV. She and her cats
visited 33 states and parts of Canada. Some of that
time was spent visiting gem mines and hunting for
semi-precious stones. |



She is survived by a daughter, Kami (Steve)
Hansen of CA; son, Kevin (Susie) Fisher of Zion;
granddaughters, Nicole (Chris) Parr, Danielle (husband,
Donnie Moore) Hansen, Julie Fisher, and Sarah Fisher; 5
great-grandchildren, Mariah Parr, Gavin Parr, Damian Moore,
Donovan Moore, and Drayton Moore; sister, Becky (Tom)
Steele; 4 nieces, 3 nephews, and many great nieces and
nephews. A special cousin, Marilyn (Todd) Syverson and
children were precious to Gail.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents;
grandparents; and sister, Tania Gordon.
Many special friends and neighbors were a treasure to her,
as was her cat, Annie. |
