Obituary

Mark W. Overholser, 54, of Atlanta, formerly of Bloomington, passed away at Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Crawford’s Pub in Bloomington from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Mark W. Overholser was born August 28, 1971, in Normal, the son of Wayne E. and Joyce A. Auth Overholser. They preceded Mark in death.

Mark is survived by his children: Celeste Knebel and Mark Barnhill; three grandchildren: Nevaeh Thome, Nirvana Sinclair, and Novagean Sinclair; one brother, Tim (Diane) Overholser; his life partner of 17 years, Cassi Crull; and step-father Mark Hitzner.

Mark had worked in construction. He was proud of having been baptized and serving as an altar boy for St. Patrick’s Church in Bloomington.

He was very talented at martial arts and had a passion for survival knowledge. Mark was proud of his achievements in MMA fighting with Coffrin’s ATA Martial Arts.

He was a huge fan of “The Doors” and loved anything to do with Halloween. Mark adored his cats and made a habit of feeding strays. He loved the small-town life of Atlanta. It also gave him great joy to reconnect with his daughter and grandchildren these past few years.

Mark will be forever in his loved ones’ hearts and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to Mark’s family, in care of Celeste Knebel, or to Home Sweet Home Ministries in Bloomington.
