[April 18, 2026]  LINCOLN - After a long hard battle with esophageal cancer, David "Dave" A. Haggard, 75, of Lincoln, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Visitation:  Tuesday, April 20, 2026, from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Jefferson Street Christian Church

Service:  Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the church.

Obituary

After a long hard battle with esophageal cancer, David "Dave" A. Haggard, 75, of Lincoln, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Funeral Services for Dave will be on Tuesday, April 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jefferson Street Christian Church with Mr. Michael Mallick officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in rural Athens.

David Allen Haggard was born on January 22, 1951, in Sherman, Illinois, the son of John Allen and Evelyn Teresa (Dewitt) Haggard. He was united in marriage to Barbara Newby on August 26, 1993. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Vicki Haggard, Lisabeth (Steven) Coates, Krissandra (Brian) Cupp, and Kip Peart; his siblings: Marianne Goeringer, Janet Rhoades, Russell (Tonya) Haggard, John (Lori) Haggard, Teresa (Bill) Payne, Tim Haggard, and Linda (Doug) Brooks; several grandchildren including Nathan Henrichsmeyer and Hunter (Ava Cook) Henrichsmeyer; and one great-granddaughter is expected soon.

Dave graduated from Williamsville High School in 1969. He then served in the United States Air Force. He retired from International Paper in Lincoln.

His hobbies included being outdoors, being a handyman tinkering on small engines, and playing golf. Above all else, he enjoyed making his wife and family happy.

Memorials may be made to his family to assist with medical expenses.
