Obituary

MORTON – Janet Ruth Dullard, of Morton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 surrounded by her family at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Janet was born January 24th, 1963, to George and Ruth Opperman in Lincoln, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Keith Dullard, of Morton and her five children, Christian (Katie) Dullard of Bloomington, IL, Corey (Hayden) Dullard of Morton, IL, Haley (Bryce) Brooks of Jonesboro, AR, Nicole Dullard of Chicago, IL, and Lindsey Dullard of Birmingham, AL. She will be lovingly remembered by her two granddaughters, Avery Ann and Cameron Taylor, as “Noni.” Janet is also survived by her brother, David (Stephanie) Opperman of Lincoln, along with many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Born and raised on the sesquicentennial family farm outside of Lincoln, IL, Janet was active in the local 4H club during her childhood. She graduated from Lincoln High School and achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Illinois State University. Upon graduation, Janet spent several years working at the Midwest Stock Exchange before moving to Bloomington and working at Country Companies where she met her husband Keith.

She lived life to the fullest, pouring love and compassion into her kids, her grandkids, and everyone she encountered. Her true calling in life was raising her five children. Whether it was traveling all over the Midwest for sports or attending dance recitals and church programs, she found fun in the chaos and experienced life with a smile. While at home, Janet could be found singing and dancing to the radio in the kitchen, claiming math has become too difficult now-a-days, or cheering on her favorite teams (the Cubs or Illini) from the couch. Above all, her favorite titles were “Mom” and “Noni”.

She was baptized into the Christian faith and a devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. She prioritized Christ by seeking comfort in daily scriptures and prayers throughout her life, especially during her fight with cancer.

Janet courageously battled leukemia over the past two and a half years. During this time, she drew strength and joy from life’s most meaningful moments including celebrating two of her children’s weddings and welcoming the births of her beloved granddaughters.

Her family would like to thank all of the medical staff from Illinois CancerCare and MD Anderson where she was loved and treated like family. Her family would also like to thank all of the friends and family who showed an outpour of love through prayer, scriptures, and messages. Every act of kindness gave her motivation to keep fighting through the years.

A funeral service will be held for Janet at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at the church. Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
