Service:  Per Joseph's wishes no services will be held.

Obituary

Joseph "7" Diers, 80, of Springfield, entered into the presence of the Lord on February 12, 2026.

Joe was born in Lincoln, IL, on August 6, 1945, the son of Freeman Harris "Jack" and Margaret Jane Wendell Diers. He married Linda Poole on April 23, 1971, and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2024.

Joe is survived by his son, Joel (Stefanie) Diers; his grandchildren, Aliyah and Mason Diers; his stepson, Thomas (Deb) Diers; and brother, Jon (Jane) Diers.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jim Diers and Jay Diers.

Joe was a member of Lincoln Christian Church in Lincoln, Illinois. The Encouragers Sunday School class provided many lifelong friendships and spiritual guides in his walk with Christ.

Joseph was a two-tour veteran in the Vietnam War where he earned accommodations for his leadership and abilities as a soldier for the United States Air Force. Joseph worked for CIPS/Ameren for the entirety of his career. Joseph was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Fighting Illini fan and treasured spending time with his grandchildren.

Per Joseph's wishes no services will be held and cremation will be accorded by Fricke-Calvert Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
