[February 05, 2026]  LINCOLN - William Allen “Bill” Carson Jr., 78, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation:  Monday, February 9, 2026, from 9-11 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Service:  Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Obituary

William Allen “Bill” Carson Jr., 78, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Bill was born February 19, 1947, in Herington, KS, the son of William A. and Lorine (McGuire) Carson Sr. He married Sheryl Merritt on December 15, 1984, in Lincoln, IL. She preceded him in death in 2018.

Bill is survived by his children, Gail (Chuck) Sloan and Jamie (Kelly) Carson; grandchildren, Ryan (Rylie), Hayden, Tate, Sara Sloan, Kyla (Dalton) Grover, and Hunter Carson; and great-grandchildren, Charlie, Levi, and Eloise. He also is survived by brother, Ernie (Linda) Carson, and two cat companions, Kaddy and Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sheryl.

Bill loved working on cars, he built his first motor at the age of nine. He worked for FEDEX for over twenty years. During his free time, Bill and his grandsons had a mowing business. He proudly served his country as a US Marine and remained active with the Marine Corps League.

Bill was overly generous with his time and loved to help others. He was a very involved grandpa who took great joy in his grandchildren as well as his cat companions.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place two hours prior from 9:00 - 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #263. Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the Marine Corps League.
