Mt. Pulaski) passed away on Tuesday, October 28,
2025, at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Center.
Vern was born on January 27, 1941, in Chestnut, the
son of Alvin “Bud” and Carmen (Callison) Dierker. He
married Linda Kuhns on August 27, 1961, at Chestnut,
IL. She survives.
Vern is also survived by his two daughters, Laura
(Jim) Brachok and Lee Ann (Ken) Colbert; two
grandchildren, Jared and Kelsey (Jon); his siblings,

Rodgers, and his Jack Russell Terrier and buddy, “JoJo”.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one
infant sister, Jeanette.
Vern was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church
in Chestnut. He grew up on the family farm outside
of Chestnut, and graduated from Mt. Pulaski High
School in 1959, where he played center for the
Hilltoppers basketball team. Vern was an over the
road truck driver for over 40 years and didn’t
retire until after the age of 70. |

He also managed Smith
Douglas Fertilizer for many years. Vern was an avid
Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and rarely missed
watching a game (even in his semi). He also enjoyed
listening to country music.
A memorial service for
