[January 17, 2026]  LINCOLN -  Stephen Scott "Steve" Sampson, 55, of Lincoln, passed away January 12, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation: Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.

Stephen Scott "Steve" Sampson, 55, of Lincoln, passed away January 12, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Casual dress is requested. Wear your favorite rock and roll t-shirt.

Steve was born June 13, 1970, in Lincoln, IL., the son of Ronald Sampson and Cheryl (Bellack) Sampson. He graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1988 and played both baseball and football during his high school career. Steve attended college in Pekin to become an architect, architecture was his passion. His love of architecture led him to develop and run his business, Design-It Construction for 32 years. He loved rock music, especially Van Halen, traveling, especially to Vegas, and fiercely loved his family and friends.

Survivors include his children Halen Sampson (Madisyn) and McKenna Stewart-Sampson; bonus children Allie Belt and Dustin Allen (Shelby), grandchildren Gretchyn Brosamer and Maeve Allen, his father Ron Sampson (Karen), lifelong partner Connie White, brother Shawn Sampson, beloved dog Velvet, and several extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Cheryl Sampson.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Halen Sampson and will be accepted at the funeral home.
