Logan County Department of Public Health expands immunization services
for adults

The Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH), in
collaboration with Illinois Department of Public Health, is expanding
its immunization services to include vaccines for adults through its new
Adult Immunization Program (AIP).
The program provides recommended vaccines to adults age 19 and older,
making it more convenient for Logan County residents to stay protected
against vaccine-preventable diseases.
Vaccines available through the Adult Immunization Program will include:
• Seasonal Influenza (Flu) – available for adults ages 19–64
• Pneumococcal Vaccine (Pneumovax 23)
• Adult RSV Vaccine
• Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis)
• Shingrix (Shingles Vaccine)—available for adults over the age of 50
The cost is $23.75 per vaccine. Individuals may qualify to receive
vaccines at no cost if they have no health insurance, their health
insurance does not cover the vaccine, or their insurance requires them
to pay the full cost or meet a deductible before the vaccine is covered.

“Vaccines aren't just for children,” said the Logan County
Department of Public Health. “Adults need vaccines throughout their
lives to help prevent serious illness and protect themselves, their
families and their communities. Our goal is to make recommended
adult vaccines accessible and convenient for the residents of Logan
County.”
Vaccinations are administered by trained public
health nurses at the Logan County Department of Public Health.
Adults are encouraged to talk with their healthcare provider or a
public health nurse about which vaccines are recommended for them
based on their age, health and vaccination history.
The LCDPH encourages adults to take advantage of this local resource
and stay up to date on their recommended vaccinations.
