Flu activity increasing in Logan County: Health Department urges
residents to get vaccinated
[January 16, 2026]
The Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH) is urging
residents to take action against influenza as flu activity continues to
increase in our community. Seasonal influenza can cause serious illness,
hospitalizations, and even death—especially among older adults, young
children, pregnant individuals, and those with chronic health
conditions.
Getting a flu shot is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and
the community. While flu activity typically peaks during the winter
months, vaccination is beneficial throughout the flu season.
“Each year we see how quickly influenza can spread,” said Kara Davis,
RN, BSN/Director of Nursing. “The flu vaccine is a safe and effective
way to reduce the risk of severe illness and help keep our schools,
workplaces, and healthcare system running smoothly.”
The flu vaccine helps:
• Reduce the risk of getting sick with the flu
• Lessen the severity of illness if you do get sick
• Protect vulnerable populations who are at higher risk for
complications

In addition to vaccination, residents are encouraged to practice
everyday prevention measures such as frequent handwashing, covering
coughs and sneezes, staying home when sick, and cleaning commonly
touched surfaces.
Flu shots are available at the Logan County
Department of Public Health. Most insurance plans are accepted.
The LCDPH clinic is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 am-3:45 pm for
walk-ins. No appointment needed! If you have questions regarding the
flu vaccine or any vaccines, please call LCDPH at 217-735-2317. For
