The Arlee Theater is proud to announce its first Red Carpet Gala
[August 25, 2025]
To celebrate 89 years of movies, the Arlee will be hosting a gala
on Saturday, October 4. Tickets must be purchased in advance for this
“formal attire optional” event. When guests arrive, they’ll be able to
walk the red carpet and pose for photos underneath the Arlee’s iconic
marquee, then head inside for light hors d’oeuvres, sparkling mocktails,
several spectacular raffles, and a showing of the 1947 hit “The Egg and
I.”
Based on the wildly popular memoir by Betty MacDonald, "The Egg and I"
saw similar success - supporting actress Marjorie Main was nominated for
an Oscar for her performance, and the film spawned nine subsequent
spinoffs, as well as a TV miniseries just a few years later. The
original book itself sold over a million copies in its first year, and
to date has been translated into 32 languages. It later inspired the TV
series "Green Acres," and is equal parts a peek into early 20th century
rural life, an ode to small towns, and a delicious slapstick romcom that
really lets Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray shine.

Bringing balance to the glitz and glamour of the evening, there will
be a handful of attention-grabbing gift baskets and baked goods
available to win via raffles.
Funds raised at this gala will go toward continuing the Arlee’s
restoration process, primarily toward rebounding from the venue's
closure this past spring/summer and subsequent projector
replacement. Tickets to the gala are now available at the Arlee as
well as through the Arlee’s website. Tickets are $30 each, or two
for $50.
