Saturday Business Spotlight: The Overstock Outlet
[February 14, 2026] If
you are looking for items at a greatly discounted rate, head to The
Overstock Outlet located at 129 South Kickapoo Street in the location
formerly known as Indigo Quilt.

Brian and
Marshawn Stevens opened their new store, The Overstock Outlet in
downtown Lincoln with a ribbon cutting May 10, 2025. However, they were
not new to the outlet business.
As a May 12, 2025, LDN article about The Overstock Outlet’s ribbon
cutting, “the Stevens have been conducting this type of outlet business
for the past 15 years. The couple said they began with online sales and
when they had learned the business and made a go of it, they began
thinking about brick and mortar. They opened their first store a couple
of years ago in Mason City.”

Something both of the Stevens noticed over time is that a fair amount of
their foot traffic came from Lincoln. When the couple came to Lincoln,
they discovered there was no other store like theirs in the community,
so they decided it was time to take the leap and move into town. When
they discovered there was a good building in the heart of the city, they
felt led to take the chance and moved into the building where Indigo
Quilt Studio had been.

Inside the store
there are a wide variety of items from home appliances to dinnerware and
kitchen tools, bedding, pots, pans, utensils and air fryers seat
cushions for chairs and outdoor lawn furniture, air conditioners, craft
supplies, books, cosmetics and health and beauty supplies, toys, jewelry
and much more.

Brian said their
most popular items are toys followed by beauty products and home
appliances. One whole wall of the store is filled with games and toys
for children of all ages. Beauty products include lip gloss, blush, eye
makeup and foundation. There are also several hair styling products
Brian said are very popular.
In the store, Brian is often the one behind the counter doing the “front
end” work. Marshawn says, “I handle all the backend operations —
ordering & coordinating with suppliers and truckers, receiving and
processing shipments, pricing, delivering, and setting up the store.”
They add items to the store every week.
The Stevens say, “the most rewarding part of owning our business is
being able to prioritize our family. Then comes saving people money on
everyday things and building relationships with our customers and
watching families grow over time.
Their advice for someone starting a business is to know your market,
don’t crossover to areas that aren’t in your lane. Do your research and
be prepared to spend more than you initially plan to invest/open. Be
prepared to ebb and flow, because nothing goes as expected.
Come to downtown Lincoln and check out all the good deals they offer on
everyday items. Their hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to
5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can visit them online
here.
