Thanksgiving Business Spotlight: Village Vintage and Gifts

[November 26, 2025]  In downtown Emden there is a cute little corner shop called Village Vintage and Gifts, which opened in December 2024.

The shop is owned by Becky Adams, who grew up in Emden then spent 49 years in Indianapolis, Indiana where she shared her life with her late husband. After losing her husband, she felt a desire to come home and be close to friends and especially family.

Becky had been a seller of antiques and collectibles in Indianapolis and said she brought most of her inventory with her when she moved to Emden.

Though the shop is small, Becky has a wide variety of items including vintage housewares, vintage décor and houseplants in vintage containers, plus woven rugs, furniture, artwork and lamps. She said her style is heavily botanical.

After moving back, Becky knew she wanted to continue selling vintage and bring something to Emden that wasn’t here before. She said, “I have always decorated in a vintage style, so I enjoy finding vintage items for others.”

Becky loves finding and shopping for treasures, in addition to looking for specific items for people.

Village Vintage and Gifts is conveniently located near Emden’s two restaurants. It is across the street from the Stag R Inn and down the street from the Dovetail Inn, so Becky said a lot of people see the shop when they come to town to eat. People on road trips also like to stop in and check out what is in the shop.

Outside the shop, Becky usually has seasonal décor plus a table and chairs. When you walk inside the shop, you will find several pieces artwork decorating the wall to the left. Just past the artwork are houseplants. In front of the windows and to the right are shelves with items like cups, dishes and vases.

In the middle of the shop is a table and chairs so you can sit and visit. The back of the shop contains goat milk soap, essential oils, doll dresses, puzzles, rugs and tumblers.

The most popular items Becky has are the lamps followed by plants and artwork. She is constantly changing out the artwork displayed on the walls as people come in and buy it.

Becky’s favorite part of running her shop is meeting people and having people stop by just to chat.

For Becky, the most rewarding part of owning a business in a small town is “feeling as if I have made a contribution and bringing people to town that may not come visit Emden otherwise.”

When someone wants to start a business, Becky recommends doing some research and getting some experience in selling. She said you need to make sure you have crossed your T’s and dotted your I’s.

Village Vintage and Gifts is located at 115 Lincoln Street in Emden. Store hours are typically Thursdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers can also make an appointment for other times or days.

During the holiday season, Becky plans to open on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shop will also be open special hours during Emden’s tour of homes on December 6.

Come check out what Becky has to offer in her shop.
