Oasis, Silver Fox Fitness and their many sponsors provide a day for Seniors at the Logan County Fair

[August 03, 2025]

On Friday morning at the Logan County Fair, Georgia Allison of Silver Fox fitness led seniors in a full hour of chair exercises as part of the Senior Day. While a lot of people are allergic to exercise this group was having fun!

Georgia has a contagious smile and zest for life. Her enthusiasm leads you to do things that you think are simple but are really designed to help with range of motion and strengthen your muscles. The hour-long portion of the whole day of activities flew by and Allison kept everyone busy the entire time.

Allison Offers Silver Fox Fitness through the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln. Check the Oasis website for class schedules and prepare to be cured of your exercise allergy.

Friday temperatures were cooler than what they had been the first few days of the fair, and that may have brought out the large number of senior citizens, some with their younger counterparts in toe, for a morning filled with fun and laughter at Senior Day Bingo.

Bingo is provided by the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln with the help of many sponsors.

The Oasis Executive Director Krista Miller and her staff spent most of the actual game portion of the morning calling and verifying cards.

Sponsors from various senior organizations that service Logan County set up tables with information and treats for seniors to pick up. And they bring all the prizes for the winners to choose from.

This year Miller had all the sponsors come on stage and the seniors greeted them with an enthusiastic welcome, after all, they were the ones that made this event happen.

Things moved along quickly so there was time to play several games and possibly win one of the many prizes that were supplied by the senior services organization sponsors.

While bingo is an individual activity you can stay "anonymous" while playing in a large group, but make no mistake, adults and kids alike were very serious about winning. Every eye seemed glued to their own bingo card BUT many were helping make sure their neighbors didn't miss a chance to win.

While watching adults demonstrate by deed, how to be kind and helpful, it reminded us that it is our responsibility to teach our kids how to win and lose gracefully. We can make a difference every day, even in small things.
