My Favorite Pie Auction brings in over $1600

[August 04, 2025]

After the chili cook-off on Saturday, August 2, the annual pie auction was held in the KC Pavilion to raise money for the Logan County Fair Foundation.

This year, there were a total of eight entries in the My Favorite Pie competition auctioned off by auctioneer Ty Tucker.

The first pie up for bidding was Barb Stinson’s eighth place strawberry rhubarb pie, which was purchased for $70 by Larry Stanfield. Stinson’s fifth place pineapple was purchased for $30 by Kelly Tucker.

Next up for bidding was the seventh place apple pie baked by veteran pie maker Carlene Carter, which was purchased for $45 by Nathaniel Gieske. Carter’ fourth place cherry pie was purchased for $105 by the Read family in memory of Lyle Read, who passed away recently.

Sherry Fulton’s sixth place apple pie was purchased for $65 by John Fulton.

In the top three, new participant Elizabeth Edershiem’s third place triple berry pie was purchased by Lincolnland Catering for $625.

Stephen Elkins, who has been in the competition before, made the second place candy apple pie, which was purchased for $375 by Rod Conklin.

The final pie up for bidding was Carlene Carter’s first place pineapple pie, which was purchased by Dale Rodgers for $350.

Tucker thanked everyone who purchased pies.

The money raised by the pie auction helps maintain the Logan County Fairgrounds. Not only do the generous bidders help keep the fairgrounds looking nice, but they also get to eat some delicious pie, which is a win-win situation for all.
