My
Mac and I had numerous conversations about what heaven will be like.
We loved thinking of how wonderful it would be to see all our
animals that crossed The Rainbow Bridge. Our Lhaso Apso, Diesel,
would be the first to jump in our arms as he was the absolute
swiftest. That dog could fly. Poor Wrigley, our loving Peke-A-Chon
would be last. Little guy could not stay focused and would run willy
nilly before coming when he was called. In between would be our
rescue, Alex, who thought he was Frank Lloyd Wright. An older
gentleman, he would pile things on top of one another and make
towers of anything that was lying about the house. It made us ever
so curious as to why. We had our Bichon Frise, Oliver, for 15 years.
He loved going on vacation with us, running errands with us and
constantly being at our side. Finley was a Morkie, a rescue that had
been terribly mistreated. He army crawled whenever a man would walk
near him. He changed into a dog that leaped into Mac’s lap.
We had cats that led us a merry chase. Poor Spike was a tuxedo cat
from the farm that was designated to be a moron by the vet. We.
Loved. Spike. He learned to do tricks as a dog would do. He would
only do the trick for whichever human taught that trick to him, but
the sweetie would do it. Our customers would bring their children in
to watch our lil cross eyed moron perform. Cinders was half Siamese
and quite devious but devoted. She did things that absolutely scared
us, they were so bizarre. Squire was a big gray tomcat that adored
Mac. Squire would pull flowers out of my bouquets and leave on Mac’s
pillow. Lucy was mean but loved to strut around the house wearing a
lovely scarf on her shoulders.

Inspirational Ministries: “There is considerable evidence of
animals in Heaven. Elijah was taken up to Heaven in a chariot pulled
by horses, (2 Kings 2:11) and the book of Revelation makes reference
to horses (6:2-8, 19:11) and eagles (4:7). In Heaven, Isiaha 65:25
describes wolves, lambs and lions. Billy Graham had a good answer
when a little girl asked him, “Will my dog who died this week be in
Heaven? “Dr. Graham replied, “If it would make you any happier, then
yes, he will be there.”
Sandra Cambra, “All pets go to Heaven. For that you can be sure. But
it’s hard to let them go and see them here no more. They flap and
fly, or swim, or run, right through Heaven’s gate. To a beautiful
place of sunshine. Oh! What a blessed fate. But then they turn and
look for you--their most loving and caring friend. Know all their
needs will be met here, until they see you come round the bend. So,
it’s ok to miss your pet, for they are now away. But remember. ALL
pets go to Heaven, and you’ll see them there someday.”

We mourn when we lose our beloved pets, but the reverse is the
wonder of dropping to our knees and hugging them all at once when we
reach our deserved reward.

Then, there are the friends and family we will reunite with and
never part from. Can you imagine the joy of holding your loved ones
that left this earth too early? Can you imagine the joy of realizing
that you will now be together for eternity and that goodbyes are not
a thing in heaven? No more tearful farewells, no more standing brave
yet alone. No decisions to be made about medicinal matters, which
medical procedures, correct hospitals or facilities. Only pure
exultation in never having to be apart again.
John 10:28 “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;
no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
Have you considered meeting Biblical figures? I want to meet Jesus’
earthly father, Joseph. I want to ask him what happened after they
lost Jesus at the temple at the age of 12. How much longer did he
live? Was Jesus excellent at every task? Could Jesus do everything
and anything perfectly?
How about speaking with Jesus’s half-brother, James? How difficult
was it to live with a perfect sibling?
Moses! Oh, my goodness, Moses! Can you imagine walking around and
seeing Moses? Exodus 17:11-13…Moses needing help from Aaron and Hur
to hold up his hand so Isreal would prevail. How agonizing was that?
Telling Pharoah of the oncoming plagues…. parting the red sea……not
being able to enter the Promised Land. Oh my! I want to sit at his
feet and listen forever.
Then there is Esther…What in the world did they do to her for 12
months to prepare her to meet the King? How did she have the
conviction and the fearlessness to do what she did?
Abraham, how did you have the faith to put God over your own son’s
life? When you were on this earth did you ever imagine the impact
you would have on this world forevermore?
Jonah…..how did it feel to be inside that whale? How did you stand
the stench? Could you see anything inside that fish?
Noah……how were you strong enough to withstand all the mocking of
your people? How were you strong enough to let the Lord lock the
doors and totally trust Him?
I’m longing for the good Lord to allow me to meet the heroes of the
Bible. The realization that all my questions and confusion about
biblical quotes, parables, and passages will be explained to my
understanding.
I love the song by Building 429, Where I Belong: “All I know is I’m
not home yet. This is not where I belong. Take this world and give
me Jesus. This is not where I belong.”
As I get used to walking this world without my Mac, I will end my
columns with a thought or quote about what’s going on in this weird
brain of mine. My advice today is life is too short to buy one ply
toilet paper.
