On Monday, July 13th, radio station
WCIC held a Summer Fun Day in Lincoln. The event was part of a wider
series of “Summer Fun Days” at parks in their listening area.
Lincoln’s Summer Fun Day kicked off at 10 a.m. at Scully Park and
wrapped up about noon.

The Summer Fun Day was kept mostly
to the southern side of the park, near the pickleball court. WCIC
had a tent set up here and the staff were giving out all sorts of
free things, including stickers. Around the tent were several
outdoor activities, including cornhole, frisbees for the new frisbee
golf basket, and pickleball equipment for the court.

The WCIC staff were very welcoming
and friendly to those who came by. They invited people to
participate in the activities and would join with those in
attendance.

A Kona Ice truck was also present.
The first 100 people who came by to get Kona Ice received it for
free. Many families took advantage of the offer.

WCIC Listening Engagement
Director Olivia Strawn spoke on the Summer Fun Days event.
According to Strawn, WCIC puts on an event like this each summer
in their listening areas. While this is not the first Summer Fun
Day WCIC has hosted, they often switch between a few things each
summer. Strawn stated that one summer, they had an event
centered around ice cream.
Strawn was sure to thank their sponsor, MOOSE Physical Therapy.
WCIC has had two Summer Fun Days so far and has two more coming
up later this week. These will be at Mineral Springs Park in
Pekin and Harry LaHood Park in Washington.
