On
Saturday, June 28th Hope on 5th hosted a garage sale at the Logan
County Fairground. The yellow door barn was filled from end to end
with a wide variety of items offered at reasonable prices.
Discerning shoppers would have noted that several of the items being
offered were left over from the Humane Society of Logan County
garage sale hosted on June 7th. Many of those items still held the
colored dot pricing system established by the HSLC, and those prices
were being honored by the Hope volunteers.

There were also many new items,
some of them priced and many of them not. Those that were not priced
were being offered for $1 per unit.

Also there was a wide variety of
books, dvds, cds and vhs tapes that were being offered for free.

The barn was busy throughout the
morning with shoppers grabbing up many good bargains.

Volunteers worked around the
building helping shoppers upon request and of course, offering quick
checkout when the shopping was finished.
The proceeds from the sale will go to support Hope on 5th.
Hope on 5th is a private organization housed in the former St.
Clara’s Manor on Fifth Street. Contrary to believe, it is not a
product of the Central Illinois Veterans Commission, and is not a
facility intended for use by local veterans, though veterans are
welcome to use the services provided.
Hope on 5th provides community services to all types of people in
need. From drug rehabilitation and other health concerns, legal
advice, and temporary housing for all those facing homelessness, the
facility and its staff and volunteers focus on improving the quality
of life of all people in need in Logan County.
