Saturday, April 25th, was the
perfect day for a car show. All you needed was a light jacket to
walk down Pulaski Street in Lincoln and enjoy the antique cars from
several different eras. There were more recent models of Dodges,
BMWs, and Corvettes, as well as vintage models like Studebakers,
Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs, and even a Model A Ford. Coffee was served
from 8 - 11 a.m. on the sidewalk, and several people gathered to
talk about the cars.

This event was one of the first of
many upcoming shows this summer. The Railsplitter Antique Auto Club
will host a few Cars and Coffee events and Cruise Ins, and will
appear at several local events from May through September. The
events include Mt. Pulaski’s Second Friday events, Lincoln’s Third
Friday events, and Elkhart’s Sesquicentennial.

One of the eye-catching cars was
Randy West’s 1964 Impala. West said, “It's my pride and joy”. He has
owned the car for 12 years. The car was emerald green when he
purchased it. It took him a while to decide on this color but he
said he saw it on a truck and knew it would be the perfect color for
his Impala. Alpha and Omega Body Shop in Taylorville did the body
restoration.

The vehicle has the original
motor and transmission. You can even see the original bottle of
wiper fluid under the hood. Most of the vehicle's interior is
original, except for the carpeting. He keeps the vehicle in a
64-degree garage year-round to prevent dust, rust, and mold.
West and his wife enjoy taking it out for rides, and he
participates in several other car shows, like the Shady Car Show
in August at Memorial Park.

Lee and Stephen Kalka brought out a
couple of pieces from their collection. They are posed with their
1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Sophia ready to enjoy the breeze on
the ride home. They also brought their red, 1990 Buick Reatta.
The Railsplitter Auto Club will be active this summer. For more
